Effect of hiring women for companies progress.


In almost every country in the world, women around the world spend more time on unpaid work such as childcare and housework. Only 41 million (1.5%) of the world's 606 million (21.7%) women are employed on a full-time basis at no cost. Women are less likely to go to work when it comes to women and men who do not have children. Worldwide, women spend an average of 4 hours and 22 minutes a day working free of charge, while men spend only 2 hours and 15 minutes free of charge.

This gap has widened with the expansion of Covid-19.

Research by an International Monetary Fund (IMF) has found that the inclusion of more women in institutions can help protect their rights and at the same time improve business. They have found that the following benefits can be gained from recruiting women and they have conducted several case studies on companies in various industries around the world.

  1. Author has analyze & present the detail in productive manner & there are lot to learn. However, when considering Sri Lankan statistic, the situation is differ in apparel industries. More than 90% from of the workforce is women & they are well treated by the employer. As author explained "Hiring women for company progress" is a proven factor in apparel industry not only Sri Lanka but also the other countries as well.
    I feel that it's better if author could explain what are the mechanism that company can implement to attract women workers. However, it's worth to read.

  2. I agree with the author. Women Spend More Time Performing Unpaid Work, Mathur, 2020 says more women have been forced to select more flexible duties, which may be part time and closer to home, because they are expected to provide care for their families.
    Adding more to Ruwan's comment, In Bangladesh female make up 80 percent of the garment workforce and according to Bruce Wellas each worker expected to get through 400 pieces of clothing an hour in Bangladesh garment factories. Hiring women for company progress can be well proven with these examples.
